2016 Stitching Plans!

2016 is nearly upon us and I thought I would put up my stitching plans for the next year. This is just a rough plan and of course, I will change them as I feel like it. I will do a review halfway through the year maybe to see how my plans have changed. What are all your plans? Any resolutions?

My resolution is to have fun, share more of my stitching on social media and to try and finish some projects!

I have decided to have an overall focus piece for the year and will try and finish it before the year is done.

Overall Focus Piece: Custom Wedding Sampler

I will also be participating in the Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery’s year-long mystery stitch-a-long. It is a travel themed one this year and looks like it will be fun. The first part of the chart will be made available on the 15th of January 2016.

Yearly Stitch-a-longs: Pumpkin Passport

The group StitchMaynia (on Facebook) has a number of stitch-a-longs, usually one per month, there are also other, one day and year long ones. I am attempting to participate in as many as possible.

Monthly Stitch-a-longs:

January – New Year, New Start

This stitch-a-long is relatively self-explanatory. I will be starting something new for the new-year. Although, other people are trying a new fabric or floss or a new designer or type of stitch. The project I have chosen is only small but it should be fun to do. Project: Pokemon Blanket – Oddish

February – We Love Stitching

This stitch-a-long is all about love. A valentine’s themed piece or a piece you love. I am choosing to work on a piece that represents the love shared between my husband and me, our wedding sampler! Project: Custom Wedding Sampler.

I won’t have much time in February as I will be in Germany on holidays. Hooray!

March – It’s Not Easy Being Green

Anything Green! This one is easy, but also difficult, as I have so much to choose from. Again, I will be doing a pokemon. Project: Pokemon Blanket – Syther.

I will also have less time in March as I will only get back from my holiday mid-way through the month. I am sure I will have lots to catch up on for the Pumpkin Passport as well. But I think the small pokemon would be achievable.

April – April Showers Bring May Flowers

This stitch-a-long is for any piece containing water or flowers. Again, I want to choose something small. I am trying not to start too many new things in 2016 as I have many projects that need finishing. For this one, I have chosen to stitch a water pokemon. Project: Pokemon Blanket – Poliwag.

May – StitchMaynia 2016

I will do a separate post for StitchMaynia, closer to the 1st of May. Although, for 2016, I will be stitching on 16 different projects, with the idea I will work on them at least 2-3 days each (multiple projects on the weekends).

June – Whine and WIPs

This is for a WIP that makes me complain. This one will sort of be a new start as I will be restarting a project because I didn’t like stitching it on Aida. Project: Satsuma Street – Pretty Little London.

July – It’s A Sunshine Day

This stitch-a-long is for summer themed pieces, which is funny, as it will be Winter here in Australia. I think I will continue with my Whine and WIPs piece as the colours are very summery in feel. Project: Satsuma Street – Pretty Little London.

August – No Stitch-a-long This Month

I won’t be participating in any additional stitch-a-longs this month. I am going to use August to catch up on the Pumpkin Passport and focus on my Custom Wedding Sampler.

September – World of Pure Imagination

Stitching on any piece that sparks my imagination, be it mythical creatures or a different place in space or time. I have chosen a mythical creature. Project: Cloud’s Factory – Rise of the Phoenix.

October – BAPs and Smalls. We Love Them All.

This one is about our largest projects and our smallest ones. I love all projects of all different sizes. I have chosen to do one of each. Project 1: Heaven and Earth Designs – Parliament of Owls. Project 2: Pokemon Blanket – Diglett.

November – Something Old, Something New.

This is also a duel stitch-a-long about the newest WIP or the oldest WIP you have. Also, wedding pieces are also included. Project: Custom Wedding Sampler.

If by some miracle, I have the wedding sampler already completed. I will work on my oldest WIP. Project: Embarkation.

December – The Final Countdown

This month will be dedicated to finishing as many things as possible before 2017!

Sounds very organised! I’ve not started planning yet. You have however inspired me to set some stitchy goals for 2016.
    I hope you’ve had a good Christmas! 💙

  2. I think it’s pretty cool that you have your stitchy year planned out. I look forward to seeing what you create and especially the Frosted Pumpkin SAL. I am going to work on finishing my WIP’s. That doesn’t mean that some new starts will pop up here and there 😉 All I can do is try my best to stick with the WIP’s and try to ignore the beautiful, sparkly, awesome goodness that the designers come out with. Ugh, who am I kidding? There will be some new designs that will pull me from my path, LOL
